Engr. Fadeyi pledged sustainable innovation as he assumes leadership of NIMechE Lagos

Lagos state has always been the Centre of Excellence in governance and industry. This culture is ingrained by many entities operating within the State. It is no difference with the Nigerian Society of Engineers and its various Divisions. In this case, the Mechanical Division under the aegis of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, NIMechE.

Last weekend, the Conference Hall of National Engineering Centre, Victoria Island was packed full with dignitaries from across the country at the investiture of Lagos State Chairman of the institution, Engr Olusegun Samson FadeyI. Who takes over from Engr (Mrs) Funmilade Akingbagbohun.

The event, chaired by NIMechE National Chairman, Engr Dr Robinson Ejilah, had other dignitaries in attendance among who are the former Past President of Nigerian Society of Engineers, and former commissioner for Agriculture in Ondo State, Engr Olorunfemi Isaac; the Deputy President of NSE, Engr Babagana Muhammad, the Past National Chairmen of NIMechE, Engr Chief Tunde Zedomi and Engr Ayo Fanimokun; Engr Tunde Ogunde, President ASHRAE Nigeria Chapter, Engr Kehinde Ologuntoye, CEO Rated Cranes and Scaffold Ltd, His HRH Engr Kofoworola Olatunbosun Ojomo, the Ojomo Oluda of Ijebu Owo; and many others too numerous to mention.

In his address, Engr Fadeyi acknowledged the lofty position of the Chapter and promised to take it even higher. His policy framework, tagged “Facilitating Sustainable Innovation Through Consolidation” is hinged upon five points agenda. They are:

1. Elevating the profile of the institution

2. Partnership with the academic community

3. Industry partnership and collaboration

4. Professional development of members

In his word, “Over the years, the institution has recorded many laudable achievements, but as rich as our legacy is, we cannot afford to rest on our achievements. We recognise that more work still needs to be done to bequeath a worthy legacy to incoming generation..”

He said his major goal will be to provide enabling environment to stimulate innovation through these 5 points agenda.

Earlier, Engr Funmi Akingbagbohun, the outgoing chairperson, had, in her address, praised the new chairman’s qualities and hard work and expressed her confidence in his ability to take consolidate on the success of the chapter. She enthused “nothing succeeds like successors! ”

Who is Engr Segun Fadeyi?
Olusegun Fadeyi is a native of Owo, Ondo state, where he had his early education including (City and Guide Part 1 and 2 ) before proceeding to University of Technology Cluj- Napoca, Romania, where he obtained his Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (machine building technology). He obtained his Masters in Mechanical Engineering at University of Lagos thereafter.
A seasoned professional and consumate leader, Engr Fadeyi is currently the Managing Director SAMFAD and Associates, specialist in engineering solutions and facility management. He has worked in various capacities such as Executive Director of Operation, Highland Energy Solution services limited; Head of Operations, Josepham Group of Companies; General Manager, Highland Nigeria Limited; Project Engineer, Dormanlong Engineering Limited; Assistant General Manager, Goshen Beach Estate and host of others.

His contributions to the engineering is no less impressive. He has served in various capacities such as National General Gecretary NIMechE, Publicity Secretary, Mechanical Division, Vice Chairman NIMECHE Lagos and member, NIMechE Innovation Challenge sponsored by Royal Academy of Engineering.

He is a registered member of Nigerian Society of Engineers, International Facility Management Association (IFMA), Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and registered with Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN. He is an inspector of Engineering Regulations Monitoring, ERM, a Vice President of Old Students Association of Nigeria Graduates from Romania Universities (ANGRU), member, Federal Road Safety Marshall and many more. A sticker to details and quality, Engr Fadeyi loves taking on challenges and his a firm believer in lateral thinking, hard work and excellence. He is married with kids.
