1. The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has applied for financing from the World Bank towards the cost of the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) and intends to apply part of the proceeds towards payments under the Performance Based Grant (PBG) Program for Solar Hybrid Mini Grids for Rural Economic Development

2. The REA intents to provide PBGs to mini grid developers on a rolling basis. The PBGs will be granted based on the number of customer connections. The amount of the grant is fixed at USD350/connection. Grant applications wit be considered on a first come, first served basis.

3. The application consists of a two stage process: first is a qualification stage, and second is a site specific technical application stage. At the qualification stage, interested Applicants will be required to submit a program application which includes a corporate business plan. The REA will use this program application to evaluate whether the applicant is eligible and qualified to enter the program. Qualified applicants will then be invited to submit a site specific technical application.

4. All applications wit be submitted on a web based platform. To access the platform, interested applicants must register on the following website to obtain a login: http://rea.gov.ng/rea-nep- performance- based- grant- program- registration/.

5. The REA intends to open the qualification stage of the performance based grant program on April 15th, 2019. It is expected that the site specific technical application stage will open n July, 2019.
