NAS Gets New President, VP

The Nigerian Academy of Science has appointed Professors Ekanem Braide and Abubakar Sambo, as President and Vice-President-elect, respectively.

According to a statement on Tuesday by the Executive Secretary of the Academy, Dr Oladoyin Odubanjo, they were appointed at the Annual General Meeting of NAS held in Lagos.

The statement said Braide, who was the immediate past vice-president, would be the first female president of the academy in its 43 years of existence when she took over in January 2021.
“She is a professor of Parasitology/Epidemiology and also a former Vice-Chancellor at Nasarawa State University, Lafia.” The statement added.
